Collaboration

No man is an island, according to poet John Donne, and he makes a pretty good point. Everything in life is more enjoyable when there are others by your side, and it’s no different when it comes to blogging.

Since I started awriterinsight back in 2016, there have been several occasions where I’ve enlisted the help of my best friends to work with me on some unique posts. As well as being bloggers, they’re also qualified writers – which is how we met – so you can expect our collaborations to be just as creative as they are informative (and opinionated!).

This page provides you with everything you need to know about the people that have contributed to this blog and all the posts that we’ve worked on together.

Give It Some Geek

SarahSarah is a 23 year old blogger with a creative passion that knows no bounds. As a writer, she specialises in fiction for a teen audience, primarily focusing on the romance and dark fantasy genres. She’s been in love with the craft since she was a young girl, so much so that she spent three years studying it at Edge Hill university. Now a graduate living in the English countryside, she splits her free time between recording songs for her Smule account (WhenSarahSmiles) and writing about all things geeky on her aptly named blog, Give It Some Geek.

Holly Quills and Ivy

HollyHolly is a 22 year old blogger with a penchant for all things cute and cuddly. Hailing from the city of Liverpool, she stayed close to home when she attended Edge Hill University for a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. After graduating back in 2016, she took some time out to prepare for her big move to London where she’s now studying for a Master of Arts in Publishing. When she’s not at university, she spends her time working on her blog – Holly Quills and Ivy – where she writes about books, beauty and lifestyle, among other things.

Review of the Year 2016

Review of the Year 2016

Every year brings about a horde of great new releases – often too many to count – and it’s nice to take a step back and remind ourselves of what they were. Considering that the three of us all love talking about the things that we love, we got together to discuss our favourite songs, albums, films, books, games and TV series of 2016 (as well as our top Christmas songs).

Musical March

Musical March

Music has an effect on us all, no matter its genre. For many of us writers it serves as a great source of inspiration, from film tracks and love songs to guilty pleasures and underrated favourites. We’re all influenced by different musical styles, so we thought we’d look deeper into what the three of us enjoy listening to when putting pen to paper (so to speak).

Micro Month 2017

Micro Month 2017

Micro Month is all about seeing how we as writers can interpret the same themes and situations differently. With a new brief every week, the three of us showcased our writing skills in a series of short fiction pieces that covered a wide range of genres and styles. This year’s themes were: a dispute at the beach, hold my hand, bucket list and a nightmare in winter.

Review of the Year 2017

At the end of another year, we can’t help but look back and think about the amazing things that have come out in the last twelve months. 2017 has seen some amazing releases, so once again we got together to look back on our favourite songs, albums, films, books, games and TV series from the year. We also gave a little nod to our favourite Christmas films of all time too.
